Technical diving is an exciting type of underwater diving that offers experienced divers the opportunity to explore the depths and undertake challenging dives beyond traditional recreational diving. Egypt, with its warm and clear waters of the Red Sea, the variety of dive sites, and the availability of professional dive centres, attracts many scuba enthusiasts to technical diving.

Technodiving - what it is

Technical diving is a type of diving that requires the use of specialised equipment, as well as professional skills to dive to great depths in conditions that far exceed the standards of amateur diving.

The main differences that distinguish technodiving as an independent type of diving:

  • diving depths of more than 40 metres (in some countries the limit is 30 metres);
  • decompression stops;
  • diving with swimming into overhead environments (wrecks, underwater caves) with a distance of more than 10 m from the exit point;
  • the presence of an accelerated decompression process at the time of diving;
  • the use of several gas mixtures for breathing during the dive.

Easy Divers Dive Centre provides training in technical diving under PADI programmes with the issuance of a certificate. Classes are conducted by experienced instructors, accredited professional divers.

Technodiving classes are best suited for the Red Sea. Amateur divers are limited not only in time, but also in the depth of diving. In the event of a problem, they can easily surface. Technodivers are deprived of such an opportunity due to the fact that their swims are carried out at considerable depths. Decompression, cave vaults or wreck ceilings often prevent them from surfacing immediately. For this reason, critical thinking and the ability to quickly find a way out in a difficult situation is very important for the diver, as his life depends on it.

The equipment used in technodiving is much more complex than amateur equipment. It requires a serious approach from the diver: the diver must be able to calculate gas consumption, decompression stops, know gas mixtures suitable for a particular situation. Technodiving places higher demands on physical fitness, the ability to swim with fins, to perform certain exercises in the water to acquire useful skills.

What are the advantages of technical diving in Egypt?

Egypt is one of the best places for technodiving. The waters of the Red Sea are rich in diverse marine life and amazing underwater scenery, which makes diving even more exciting and unforgettable. There are many dive sites including reefs, walls, caves and wrecks.

One of the benefits of technical diving in Egypt is the opportunity to explore the depths and reach new limits. Our dive centre offers several deep dive programmes to explore an underwater world inaccessible to recreational divers. Divers can visit shipwrecks, search for artefacts, explore underwater caves and discover new possibilities. Night diving deserves special attention, when the underwater world appears in a completely different light.

Preparing for technodiving

Technical diving requires a serious approach. You can conquer the great depths of the Red Sea only after completing special courses and obtaining the appropriate certificate.

Special attention is paid to equipment preparation and training. In addition to romance and adventure at uncharted depths, technodiving requires serious physical preparation, psychological stability, readiness to act quickly in an emergency situation, to withstand increased loads and stress, which can be encountered during technical diving.

A trip to Egypt, to the resorts of Sharm el-Sheikh and other cities, provides unique opportunities for lovers of underwater adventures. The richness of marine life and the availability of professional dive centres make Egypt an attractive destination for diving to various depths. For experienced divers it is a challenge and unforgettable experience.
